Individual Protest at 5 PM in St. Petersburg to Follow Socialist's Campaign Kick-Off At 12 Noon in John F. Germany Library, Downtown Tampa (Ashley Dr., near U. of Tampa)
Spring Hill, Florida: Socialist Party USA presidential nominee, Brian Moore, will publicly question Republican presidential candidate John McCain's Commitment to public financing by protesting early Wednesday evening (June 4th) in front of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg prior to McCain's $50,000-a-Chair fundraiser Wednesday evening. Moore invites the public to join him in front of the club entrance at 501 5th Avenue NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 around 5.
Moore explains that presidential candidate McCain "retreated from his long term commitment to public financing just as soon as he got into the 2008 race for the presidency."
Moore criticized the Republican candidate for his "hypocrisy" on this vital public financing issue. The Socialist also is critical of Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for their decisions to attract big private monies and not to level the playing field for all candidates through public funding.
Both Democratic contenders, who have vastly out-raised McCain so far, have declined federal matching funds for the primaries.
Earlier that same day, Moore will kick-off his Socialist campaign on "How America Can Change from Capitalism to Socialism" from 12 noon to 2 PM, at the John F. Germany Library in downtown Tampa, 900 North Ashley Drive, Tampa, 33906 (near the University of Tampa Campus). The campaign speech will now be in the East Building auditorium. (see library directions below).
Brian Moore also announced Tuesday evening that his motion for an injunction against the state of Ohio was granted by the United States District Court , Southern District of Ohio, by Judge Gregory L. Frost, thereby enabling out-of-state petitioners, plus in-state unregistered residents, to be petition circulators for presidential candidates. Moore said the 5,000 signature requirement will still be difficult, since 7,500 will have to be collected taking into account erroreous addresses, etc.
Moore hopes the Socialist Party USA will gain ballot access in 20 targeted states by the end of this summer, and have "write-in" status in 25 other states.
Library Directions: enter the east building and walk to be the back, behind the information booth, through several glass doors.
From the library parking lot, take the crosswalk to the tunnel, walk through the West building to the East building, and the auditorium is on the first floor.
Admission is free and open to the public.
